Modern Apprenticeships

What is a Modern Apprentice?

Modern Apprenticeships help employers to develop their workforce by training new staff, and upskilling existing employees. They are an exciting way of gaining skills and qualifications that will help to start a career without having to study full-time.

 INDIVIDUALS

Modern Apprenticeships are available to people who are working in the following area;

  • Business and Administration

Candidates must have their  employer’s approval in order to take part. There is no cost to  employers for the candidate’s training. All training is provided by PPP.

Successful candidates will be required to commit to study time both in the  workplace and in their own time and hand in work weekly to their assessor. Candidates will have a named assessor who will guide them through the apprenticeship and offer support throughout.

Candidates will be able to attend study sessions at PPP to enhance their knowledge and understanding of their subject.  Study sessions will be tailored to fit around workers shift patterns.

EMPLOYERS

Your business needs skilled people. We’ve got the answer!

Modern Apprentices are the secret to building a skilled, motivated workforce. You can hire someone new or develop your existing employees with the Modern Apprenticeship programme. Your business can get the skills and talent it needs. And at the same time, your apprentice gains industry-recognised qualifications based on highly structured training. In a nutshell, you pay the wages and provide the apprentice with skills and training and SDS help pay for the training.

This is our 4th year of delivering the MA programme and we have had excellent External Verification visits from the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) with positive feedback, and recognised good practice.

What the programme involves for an employer

The Modern Apprentice is employed by you; this can be an existing or new employee.  The programme usually lasts for 12 to 18 months (depending on industry sector) although progress can sometimes be made more quickly. We will work with you to support your apprentices and to ensure that they achieve their full Modern Apprenticeship.

What we do

  • Place the training needs of every candidate we work with at the heart of our organisation.
  • Be open and transparent with every employer about the government funding we draw down on behalf of that employer.
  • Act and report promptly upon any complaint you may have about us.
  • Assign an industry qualified assessor and ensuring the apprenticeship meets the requirements of the awarding body through Internal and External Verification.
  • Work with the apprentice and employer to develop the Individual Learning Plan.
  • Monitor, support and guide all parties throughout the programme.
  • Ensure standards are met for all aspects of the programme including health and safety and equal opportunities.

Whether you’re still at school, searching for work or on the lookout for new skills, an MA could be the perfect way to learn on the job. You’ll gain skills, get industry-recognised qualifications and earn a wage.

We now only provide Modern Apprenticeships in Business and Administration. We will work with you to create an individual training plan to suit your needs and skills, and identify any additional support that you may need to ensure you achieve your full apprenticeship.
